The academics
We build the core hard and well: reading with understanding, numbers with confidence, and the first taste of asking good questions across subjects - taught in periods that let a lesson breathe.
Taught the way they learn.
This is the stage where our inquiry-based approach becomes visible day to day: our teachers are trained to draw a child toward exploring the material and asking questions, rather than simply stating facts to be memorised. We also start reading how each child learns best — auditory, kinesthetic or visual — and lean our methods toward it, because a child who learns by moving shouldn’t be taught only by sitting still and listening.

Every lesson is also a chance to practise kindness, effort and honesty. We don’t bolt character on at the end of the week – it’s in the middle of the maths lesson.

What is Preparatory School?
Preparatory School is the stage between the early foundational years and Middle School. At Tatva, Grades 3–5 focus on strengthening academic foundations while developing greater independence, confidence, curiosity, and thinking skills.
How does learning change in Grades 3–5?
Children gradually move towards deeper understanding and greater independence. They are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, apply what they learn, and take increasing responsibility for their work.
How does Tatva prepare Grade 5 students for Middle School?
Grade 5 provides an opportunity for students to strengthen their academic foundations while developing the independence, responsibility, and confidence needed for the next stage of their education.
Does Preparatory School focus only on academics?
No. Academic learning is complemented by opportunities in areas such as sports, arts, activities, and other experiences that contribute to children’s broader development.
How does Tatva support independent learning?
Children are gradually given more opportunities to participate, make choices, manage responsibilities, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning, with teachers continuing to provide guidance and support.
